Dr Ash Jhamb
Director of Interventional Radiology & Neurointervention, St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne
Dr Ash Jhamb is an Australian-trained Interventional Neuroradiologist. He completed his medical training at the University of Queensland and radiology training at The Alfred Hospital in 2005, followed by fellowships in Interventional Radiology at The Alfred and Interventional Neuroradiology at Vancouver General Hospital and New Delhi Hospital.
He holds specialist accreditation with the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) and accreditation from the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Interventional Neuroradiology (CCINR), recognising his expertise in minimally invasive treatments of the brain and spine.
Ash has worked as a Staff Specialist at the St Vincent’s Hospital / Austin Hospital combined INR service since 2012, providing 24/7 coverage of neurovascular emergencies. He has been Director of Interventional Radiology and Neurointervention at St Vincent’s Hospital for more than 10 years and oversees IR and INR training programs.
His interests include general intervention, spinal intervention, endovascular management of aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations and hyperacute stroke treatment including endovascular clot retrieval.
Associate Professor Julian Maingard

Associate Professor Julian Maingard graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2012. He undertook medical and surgical residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from 2013–2014 and radiology training at Austin and Monash Health before subspecialty training in Interventional Radiology and Neurointervention.
He is currently a Staff Specialist at Austin Health and St Vincent’s Hospitals as part of the Neurointerventional Radiology team. He is Clinical Lead for Endovascular Clot Retrieval at Austin Hospital and served as Acting Director of Interventional Radiology and Neurointervention at St Vincent’s Hospital in 2026.
Julian is registered by CCINR in Australia and holds the EBIR qualification from Vienna. He also sits on the Stroke Community of Practice advisory group for the delivery of reperfusion therapies within Victoria.
He is an Associate Professor at Deakin University and was awarded the Early Career Researchers Prize in 2020 by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. His research interests include endovascular therapy for acute ischaemic stroke, intracranial aneurysms and vertebral augmentation. He has authored over 100 publications and 6 book chapters.
Dr Davor Premrl
Staff Specialist in Neurology & Radiology, Austin, St Vincent’s & Royal Hobart Hospitals
Dr Davor Premrl graduated from Monash University in 2013. He completed physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Advanced Training in Neurology at the Royal Melbourne and Austin Hospitals, and then dual-trained in Neurointervention at Austin and St Vincent’s Hospitals.
Davor is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists and is registered by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Interventional Neuroradiology in Australia. He is currently a Staff Specialist in Neurology and Radiology at Austin, St Vincent’s and Royal Hobart Hospitals.
He is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, with research focused on the haemodynamics of intracranial atherosclerosis. He has presented nationally and internationally and authored more than 30 publications and book chapters.
His subspecialty interests include stroke, intracranial aneurysms, carotid atherosclerosis and subdural haemorrhage. His procedural experience includes clot retrieval, aneurysm treatment using coiling, stenting and intrasaccular devices, carotid stenting, arteriovenous fistula embolisation and middle meningeal artery embolisation.
Dr Ali
Dr Ali Khabaza is a Consultant Neurointerventional and Interventional Radiologist at Austin Health and St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He holds specialist qualifications including FRANZCR, EBIR-ES, CCINR, EDNI and a Doctor of Advanced Medicine in Interventional Radiology from Macquarie University.
Dr Khabaza has completed extensive advanced fellowship training in neurointervention and interventional radiology across several major Australian centres. His clinical practice includes acute stroke thrombectomy, cerebral aneurysm and vascular malformation embolisation, carotid and intracranial interventions, as well as a broad range of vascular and non-vascular image-guided procedures.
He is actively involved in multidisciplinary care, clinical research, education and quality improvement, with multiple publications in neurointervention, cerebral aneurysm treatment and advanced imaging.
